The Feldenkrais method
The Feldenkrais method is a process that helps a person shift out of old patterns for good. It helps you identify and change habits that might be causing you pain and discomfort in exchange for long-term healing and relief.
Feldenkrais is a method of "learning" for the brain and nervous system that uses physical movement to help identify and then permanently change a person's musculoskeletal patterns or biases that cause chronic discomfort or pain.
There are two aspects to the Feldenkrais method:
Awareness Through Movement
The first is called "Awareness Through Movement” (ATM) classes that are practiced in a room with other participants, similar to a yoga class, often lying on a mat while led through a series of movements by the instructor. These are cost effective and help empower individuals by giving them tools they can apply in their every day lives to make changes little by little.
The other aspect is private sessions or "Functional Integration" lessons that are done on a table, very much like the work I do with clients during therapeutic massage sessions.
This summer I will be certified to teach group "ATM" classes and can hardly wait to share this transformative and healing work with each of you who is interested.
In the meantime, I’ll continue to weave in pieces of my training into massage sessions, as I feel is of service to each individual client, as well as test out small group "practice" lessons. If you are interested, please contact me.
